Organic Agriculture Workshops

The Loup Basin, South Central Nebraska, and Trailblazer Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Councils will sponsor workshops in central Nebraska on January 25 and 26 for agricultural producers interested in transitioning from traditional to organic crop or livestock production.

Presenters at each workshop will provide information about the three-year organic certification process, marketing opportunities for organic agriculture products, and various aspects of organic crop and livestock production.  Representatives from local Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offices will also be available to discuss assistance available for organic transition through various USDA programs.

The workshops will be held at the Loup Basin RC&D office, 801 S Street in Ord, NE on Monday, January 25th, and the Trailblazer RC&D office, 437 North Elm Street in Red Cloud on Tuesday, January 26th.  Both workshops begin at 9:30 am and will conclude by 2:30 pm.  Refreshments and lunch will be provided.  Pre-registration is not required, but is encouraged.  Funding for the workshops is provided by a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund.
