What is the Nebraska Loess Hills Resource Conservation & Development Council?
- The Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D Council is a locally led, non-profit grassroots organization serving Dakota, Thurston, Cuming, Burt, Dodge and Washington counties. Our program focus is to protect and develop economic, natural and social resources to improve area economy, environment, and quality of life.
- The Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D Council defines problems, set priorities and actively implements projects to benefit the community. Council members are local community members--like farmers, ranchers, local officials, business owners, county boards and towns willing to volunteer their time and effort.
What are the Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D Council priorities?
On Jan 4, 2001, the Secretary of Agriculture authorized the Nebraska Loess Hills RC&D. The six major areas identified as priorities by the RC&D Council include:
- Enhance economic opportunities for area residents.
- Increase awareness of RC&D.
- Promote tourism and develop recreational opportunities.
- Enhance and protect area natural resources & promote environmental stewardship.
- Facilitate improvement of infrastructure & community resources.
