Sept. 1991-Mar. 1992 Mid-Nebraska Agricultural Development Corporation hosted information meetings about SCS - Soil Conservation Service (now NRCS) Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) program.

Keebler, Treasurer.
September 23, 1992 Application made for authorization of USDA funding for South Central
Nebraska RC&D Area.
September 24, 1992 First RC&D Annual Meeting held at UNK Student Union. Board
members-at-large elected: Ken Harter, Aurora; William Umberger, Tri-Basin NRD; Victoria Jaeger, Community Colleges; Elton Griffis, Nebraska Water Users, Inc.; Scott Wiltfong, Doniphan; Bill Podraza, Lexington.
November 12, 1992 First RC&D Board of Directors meeting held at Kearney Area
Chamber of Commerce.
December 15, 1992 Board of Directors approves motion to “…support Central Platte NRD in their development of a plan to reduce ground water contamination.”

November 6, 1996 Curtis Scheele, NRCS, Gosper County named acting coordinator for

October 22, 1997 Revised application for RC&D authorization & funding submitted
To Secretary of Agriculture.
March 17, 1998 Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman and Senator Robert Kerrey
announce Federal authorization and funding for South Central
Nebraska RC&D Area!!
April 17, 1998 Doniphan selected as site for RC&D office.
July 19, 1998 Randal Gunn selected as RC&D Coordinator.
January, 1999 Sharon Lantis selected as Program Support Assistant.
December, 1999 RC&D moves into current office location in Doniphan.
June 6, 2000 RC&D received 501(c)(3) tax exempt approval from IRS.
July, 2005 Shelly Schnakenberg hired as Program Support Assistant following
retirement of Sharon Lantis in May, 2005.
April 15, 2007 South Central NE RC&D Council designated as member of Circle of
Diamonds by National Association of RC&D Councils.
September 15, 2008 South Central NE RC&D celebrates ten year anniversary.
