About South Central Nebraska RC&D

Mission: The mission of the South Central Nebraska Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council is to promote cooperative partnerships, educate, provide leadership and information and utilize resources to benefit area residents.

Vision: Progressive, prosperous and dynamic communities and rural areas.
 
 Area Description
The South Central Nebraska RC&D area consists of nine counties - Adams, Buffalo, Dawson, Gosper, Hall, Hamilton, Kearney, Merrick and Phelps - encompassing 5,613 square miles. The major river basin is the central portion of the Platte River. Six of the nine counties are located in the Rainwater Basin, which provides habitat for migratory waterfowl and several threatened and endangered species. Water is extremely important in this area for domestic use, agriculture, and wildlife.

  • Promote Environmental Stewardship and Protect Natural Resources
  • Support Community Development Activities thoughout the Area.
  • Increase awareness of RC&D program and develop capacity of RC&D Council and volunteers
